Five Minute Friday - love

Every Friday we unite for five minutes. Only five minutes, that's all we get, that's all we have. And then, right where we are, no edits or second thoughts, we publish those words. This week, we write on love.

The actual prompt this morning was not love, so I went rogue.

Because it's Valentine's Day and we all need a little more love.
Because we all need to spread a little more love.
Because we all need to remember how much we love.
Even if for one day.

Because it feels heavy and a lot right now.
Because everyone is a little more scared, all for different reasons.
Because it kind of feels like we no longer care about each other.
So, we all need a little more love.
Even if for one day.

And because it is Valentine's Day, I want to remind you, the ones I chose to include in my life,
the ones I chose a bigger life for...
how much I love you
and why I do.

I love you because you have Dad's eyes.
I love you because you have my hair.
I love you because you make me laugh.
I love you because you're still squishy.
I love you because things still make you cry.
I love you because you remind me of me, even though we are so opposite.
I love you because you remind me of me, even though we are so the same.
I love you because you want to do the right thing, I can see it, I can feel it.
I love you because I know how smart you are.
I love you because you are a lover of love.
I love you because you are a great friend.
I love you because you are the best you I know.
I love you because I picked you.
I love you.

What do I want to feel most in 2025

I want to feel secure.
Not scared.
No longer anxious.
I want to find my way home.
I want to light my own way.
And mostly, I want to see and protect the light in me.

And I want my light to see and protect the light in others.
I want to find those that I want to protect too.
I want to feel connected again.
I want to find my way home.
I want to light my own way.
And mostly, I want to see and protect the light in me.

I want to feel lighter again.
I want to feel rested, well rested.
I want to feel okay with my choices.
I want to feel like I'm making the right decisions.
I want to find my way home.
I want to light my own way.
And mostly, I want to see and protect the light in me.

I want to go home.
Back to who I am.
I want to laugh hard again.
I want to feel close in my heart again.
I want to find my way home.
I want to light my own way.
And mostly, I want to see and protect the light in me.

I want to remember what closeness feels like.
I want to remember what true love and light feel like.
I want to remember why I love, and who I love.
I want to be bathed in that love.
I want to find my way home.
I want to light my own way.
And mostly, I want to see and protect the light in me.

I want to come home.
I want to remember who I am.
What I like about me.
I want to work on what I need to work on, but I am ready to see and protect my light again.
I want to remember my heart, my passion, my joy.
I want to find my way home.
I want to light my own way.
And mostly, I want to see and protect the light in me.

I want to light my own way and come home.

Five Minute Friday - noise

Every Friday we unite for five minutes. Only five minutes, that's all we get, that's all we have. And then, right where we are, no edits or second thoughts, we publish those words. This week, we write on noise.

If you sit still enough, you can hear the silence.
If you sit still enough, your mind will stop racing.
If you sit still enough, the noise, it can start to disipate.

I'm someone that, at times, has a lot of noise in her life.
There were years in which the kids were crying, yelling, and tantrums.
Now, there are friends over, a loud husband, puppies, running a business noise, and let's not forget all the noise I have in my own head.
The self talk noise.
But the kind that makes me feel scared, small, wrong, hurt.

If you sit still enough, you can hear the silence.
If you sit still enough, your mind will stop racing.
If you sit still enough, the noise, it can start to disipate.

At times, I can break through the loud.
Sometimes, I can quiet the noise.
I can remember my breath and my why.
I can plan and problem solve.

If you sit still enough, you can hear the silence.
If you sit still enough, your mind will stop racing.
If you sit still enough, the noise, it can start to disipate.

But then there are times that it sneaks in when I don't expect it.
Like in my dreams that are filled with anxiety and dread.
Like in the shower when I'm feeling like I can't stop my racing heart.
Like in yoga when I can't stop my racing thoughts.
Sometimes, the noise really sneaks in.

If you sit still enough, you can hear the silence.
If you sit still enough, your mind will stop racing.
If you sit still enough, the noise, it can start to disipate.

And all I can do is keep plugging along.
Keep going.
Keep trying.
Keep moving.

If you sit still enough, you can hear the silence.
If you sit still enough, your mind will stop racing.
If you sit still enough, the noise, it can start to disipate.

And, when I allow it. I can also sit, very very still.
Because, if you sit still enough, you can hear the silence.
Because, if you sit still enough, your mind will stop racing.
Because, if you sit still enough, the noise, it can start to disipate.

Five Minute Friday - second

Every Friday we unite for five minutes. Only five minutes, that's all we get, that's all we have. And then, right where we are, no edits or second thoughts, we publish those words. This week, we write on second.

In a second.
I will feel better.
Calmer.
My heart will stop racing.
I will stop my mind from racing.

In a second.
I will remember how I got started.
Why I got started.
How I did it once and can do it again.

In a second.
I will remind myself of my grit.
My ability.
My love of work, for work, to work.

In a second.
I will find my breathe.
I will place a hand on my chest, and breathe.
I will place my hands to my forhead, I will close my eyes, I will listen.

In a second.
I will remember who I am.
I will remember how to be me, again.
I will remember that I am a hard worker, and I will get back to work.

In a second.
I will feel better again.
